Marc Canter is now telling why Google launched Open Social last week. Because they knew Facebook was announcing something, and they wanted to f**k Facebook. Marc says Google has a social network, but he’s saying that Open Social isn’t really a social network.
He’s talking about who he has for clients: Sacramento Kings, Bell Canada. He says he’s consistently ahead of the curve. It’s all about timing.
Competition: there’s a guy in Shanghai, Bangalore, Moscow doing the same thing. At least 50% of everything is done outside of the US.
He had 3% of Macromedia when it went public.
He’s talking about setting your priorities and getting your priorities straight. He says at no time should you think that entrepreneurship is easy or safe.
He has a virtual company and works in his pajamas. He is cursed because his visions and ambitions are way bigger than himself. How does he take his big ideas and implement them.
He is now bringing social to software.

Interesting, I have FaceBook and I have been following the OpenSocial programming initiative from Google. Google has nothing to fear. The FaceBook imagined alliance [snore] is closed and invisible, p.s. they have zero sneezers.
As a code monkey, time leverage is critical. The Google OpenSocial API allows a open, common framework for programmers to develop one widget that will talk to MySpace, LinkedIn and hundreds of other social networks, of course, the API will talk to all the Google products. Glee!
This positions Google to KILL in the cookie-tracking arena. Yahoo just hired some dork from NASA to do AI in their marketing department. Too bad Yahoo doesn’t have Vint Cerf, Linus Torvald and
Seth Godin [consultant] on their team!
Its all about the talent. IMHO
Unless Google breaks out with a case of Cranial Rectitus, its nothing but a hundred zeros followed by a one on a paycheck. Thanks for the rant-stream!

Travis, I’m not a fan of Facebook’s ads now either. I bet on Google.
