I grew up in New York, and left forty years ago. Now I’m back for the first visit in a long time, and although it’s a bit more crowded than it was, it’s very much like I remember it. Of course I’ve been back since, but not as much since 9/11, which totally wigged me out. Perhaps now I will feel better, because I’m liking it today. Tomorrow I go to my old high school.

These artisrts have been in one part or another of downtown NYC all my life.

Also the hot dog vendors, and the delis with the huge steam tables full of quick lunch and the Chinese restaurants.

New York has its own vibe, and even though I hate the traffic and the eternal siren noise, I never fail to think it’s cool.
