Earth Day at Earth911

by francine Hardaway on April 16, 2008

At Earth911.com, Earth Day is referred to as Christmas. Why? Because it is the day when resources are most necessary as traffic to the site soars. Last year Oprah mentioned Earth911.com and actually brought the site down. This year, everybody in the little company is working to make sure that just doesn’t happen.

All other projects for improving and expanding the site (a blog, a social network, streaming video from the City of Phoenix recycling facilities, and even a change from one version of WordPress to another until next week, as we try to deal with the fact that everybody thinks Earth Day is the only day to think about recycling.:-)

Actually, Earth911’s experience with its business partners has convinced us that the movement to reduce, reuse, and recycle is real, especially in the enterprise. Earth911’s President, Jonathan Smith, twittered a phone call he had with Nokia yesterday in which they told him they had completely eliminated all mercury and all lead from their handset manufacturing process.
