Thomas Hawk of Zooomr took this photo of me last Sunday at the Ritz. Zooomr is a photo-sharing site, so I thought I’d share the photo. Thomas is also a fabulous photographer. He was down at the Ritz in Half Moon Bay because he was shooting a spread on HMB for San Francisco magazine. I was there because Scoble convinced me I didn’t want to watch “60 Minutes.” He was correct. I’m really bummed by the news lately. In fact, I’m bummed about so many things that I can enumerate them for you:
1)President Bush refused to sign a bill that would have taxed cigarettes another $.61 a pack in order to raise money to fund health care for children. He thinks it interferes with incentives for private insurance. I guess he hasn’t heard about the large number of uninsured people in America who can’t afford private insurance.
2)The war in Iraq is not getting anywhere, although every day more American and Iraqis are sacrificed. Even Republicans now think it’s wrong, but the overnight slumber party at the Capitol didn’t do anything but make Congress look stupid.
3)Money is being poured into political campaigns, and being spent on consultants, campaign office leases, pizza, and beer. Perhaps this same money could have provided health insurance for children.
4)In local news, I vacuumed under my bedroom rug today for the first time since I’ve been here and there was a sand bar underneath it from the trips my dogs take to the beach. They carry enough sand home with them to create concerns about erosion of the beaches around El Granada. Although this “news” didn’t come from the TV, it was still depressing to think I’m living in upper middle class squalor.
So the Ritz was probably the correct choice for Sunday night.
BUT…someone who saw this photo posted on Thomas’ site commented that she thought from the thumbnail that it looked a lot like Diane Keaton, and then she was disappointed. So am I, sweetheart, so am I…
