The majority, in this case, is the group of citizens who voted in the people who made the laws. Majority rule doesn’t apply to every situation where there are two groups of different sizes. The people you write about (however rediculous and petty and banal they may be) actually represent the majority, even though in your isolated case they don’t outnumber you. The construct that matters in this discussion isn’t your park, or your group of people, it’s the entity that made the law that you are (were, before the dubious certification process) breaking. nnAll that being said, it’s a rediculous waste of taxpayer money to continue to have this spat consume public resources. Be careful or they may just close the park to dogs altogether and solve the issue for you! Happy New Year, and I hope it works out.

I am not sure I can remember a time when the “majority” ruled in this country. Frankly, I am pretty sure that would be a bad idea. The majority generally is uninformed and non-progressive. For real change to happen in society there needs to be a fair amount of insurgents pushing the ball forward. nnIn this case the problem is that the insurgent is not looking to make a change for the better, they are looking for a change that only helps their self interest and that sadly sounds entirely too familiar. Being rushed out the door… will have to finish the thought later.
